Birthday Party Activities: A few activities based on our current exhibit, Little Builders Blow Painting: Children control their breath to move paint blobs across paper. They will observe, predict, experiment, and communicate with peers to get desired effects with their artwork. Kites: Children will be able to design, build, and decorate their own kite. Weather permitting, we would also get a chance to try them out. Gravitram Wall: Children will construct their own path for marbles out of cardboard tubes and whatever other materials we can conjure up. Making Puzzles: Each child will get to make his or her own puzzle to take home. They will color the top and then carefully cut out the pieces.
Some of our most popular activities... Magic Wands: The birthday party will make magical wands complete with beads and ribbons. Face Painting: It is a hit with children of all ages. Sculpey: A manipulative much like clay, except that after we put it in the oven for a few minutes the creations become hard! In the past we have done medallions, jewelry, beads, and bugs. Best for ages 4 and up.
Storytelling: Thirty minutes of interactive stories picked out especially for the birthday party. Ideal for all ages. Lick and Stick Pictures: This special paper will stick to just about anything once you get it moist, which usually happens by licking it. We carry a multitude of colors so just about anything is possible. Best suited for ages 3 and up.
Nuudle Sculptures: Fashion a picture or sculpture from different colored cornstarch packing peanuts. Best suited for ages 3 and up. Decorate a Cake (or cupcakes): Johnson's Bakery provides the food, the museum provides the decorating supplies, the party guests get to design and eat their personal ultimate dessert. (Does contain diary and eggs and is processed in a facility that uses nuts.) Best suited for ages 3 and up. Games: We help you and the birthday child choose some fantastic games to play from around the world. Great for all ages. Treasure Hunt: Send your children on a good old-fashioned treasure hunt. The themes are usually related to the current exhibit. Best suited for ages 5 and up.
